Design
Plastic entirely encases the Aya Neo. It’s 0.79″ thick, which some people may find unappealing. But, it’s actually OK; after all, it’s supposed to be held in our hands as a controller.
The device’s polycarbonate exterior is fairly durable all around. The right and left sides of the gadget are only for holding it; therefore, there are no ports or other features besides buttons.
It’s also comfortable to hold. The device weighs 1.43 pounds, which isn’t the lightest, but it’s not too bad once you get used to it.
It’s not like my hands were getting tired. Aya also sells grips that may be attached to the gadget for a stronger grip.
Aya also includes a lovely protective case with the Neo, which keeps the gadget secure when inside and should keep it safe in your backpack.
On the IO front, there are two USB-C ports on the top and one on the bottom. The top two are for data, while the bottom two are for both data and charging.
If you want to output to a screen, that bottom connector connects to a dock supplied separately, although it also supports Displayport.
In terms of IO, there isn’t much else. There’s only a headphone jack on the top. The remaining space on top is set up for fan exhaust.
The speakers are cutouts in the bottom.
Buttons and Control
Obviously, a mobile gaming gadget would have a large number of buttons on the screen. There are, in fact, some. The amount of buttons is exactly as it should be.
There’s an analog joystick on the left-hand side with a D-pad beneath it and four buttons: start, Xbox connect, select, and an eyeball button that’s supposed to control the RGB lights but doesn’t actually do anything.
A pair of buttons are situated on each of the shoulders’ corners, and they are identical to the buttons found on an Xbox controller.
Finally, the power and volume controls are located on the top edge of the device. These buttons have a very low profile, which is another advantage.
Screen
The AYA Neo has a 7-inch screen with a maximum resolution of 1280×800 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. It’s an IPS display with some of the greatest viewing angles in the market.
The panel is touch-enabled, which is a good feature. It’s essentially a tablet screen at this point, but it works OK. Touch precision and multi-touch gestures are both excellent.
Performance and Hardware
The Aya Neo is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor from the third generation, which is a third-generation processor.
In this case, the CPU has six cores, each of which runs at an average clock speed of 2.33 GHz and has a maximum boost speed of 4 GHz.
While running Cinebench for a few seconds, the frequency suddenly drops to 3.0GHz and remains there for quite some time.
The integrated Radeon RX Vega 6 graphics are required because this device does not have a dedicated GPU.
The Aya Neo’s battery has a capacity of 47Whr. Because this is a compact device, and they don’t want it to be too heavy, the battery is probably about as big as you’d expect it to be, if not a little bit bigger.
