1. Missing Link (2019)
First on our list of the loch ness monster movies is “Missing Link.” This family-friendly adventure film follows the story of a young journalist who travels to Scotland to discover what happened to her grandfather.
The movie is a remake of the 1933 classic film “King Kong.” The movie’s producers describe it as “a fun and fantastical journey through Scotland,” which is exactly how we’d describe our trip here at Loch Ness!
2. The Lair Of The White Worm (1988)
The Lair of the White Worm is an interesting entry into The Loch Ness monster movies, as it’s not a feature film but a TV movie.
It stars Hugh Grant as Adam Salton, who moves to a country house in England after his fiancée breaks off their engagement.
Soon after moving in, Adam discovers an ancient tomb in his cellar and accidentally frees a strange white worm creature that has presumably been trapped there for centuries.
Adam (who goes by “Alan” throughout most of the movie) calls in some paranormal experts from London to help him deal with this new threat—but even together, they might not be able to stop this monstrous entity!
Based on Bram Stoker’s novel of the same name, The Lair of the White Worm was first shown on British television in 1988 before its release on VHS tape two years later. In addition to Hugh Grant (Bridget Jones Diary),
Amanda Donohoe (Showgirls) also stars as Alan’s love interest Sarah Bowen-Jones; David Hayman plays her father, Sir John Bowen-Jones; Michael Gough plays Dr. Dennis Rawlins, and Peter Vaughan plays Father Shillito (all four actors would go on to become major players).
3. Amazon Women on the Moon (1987)
Amazon Women on the Moon is a parody of the classic film Amazon Women on the Moon. The movie stars Michael Moriarty and David Carradine.
It was directed by John Carl Buechler, who also directed Creature From the Black Lagoon 3-D, Tremors 2: Aftershocks, and Ghost in the Machine (which features a scene where Robert Patrick’s character murders someone with his inflatable arm).
The story follows two detectives trying to find out what happened to their friend after he mysteriously disappears from an island off Scotland’s west coast.
They’re soon joined by a beautiful woman named Harriet Burns (Pamela Springsteen), who claims she can help them solve the mystery.
She leads them back home through her time machine, where they come across various creatures from outer space, including aliens and dinosaurs!
It turns out that Harriet has been living there for some time now with her mother—who happens to be an Amazon Woman from Greek mythology—and her brother Tommy (Rick Eberhardt).
Together they fight off these alien intruders using guns made of rocks or whatever else they can find lying around because technology isn’t necessary when dealing with an alien invasion.
4. The Water Horse (2007)
The Water Horse is a 2007 British fantasy film directed by Jay Russell. The film was produced by Revolution Studios and animated by Sony Pictures Imageworks. This is one of the best on our list of the loch ness monster movies.
Based on the novel The Water Horse: A Tale of the Loch Ness by Dick King-Smith, tells the story of Angus MacMorrow (Alex Etel), who finds an egg that hatches into a water horse and befriends him.
The film received mixed reviews from critics but was nonetheless successful at the box office, grossing over US$89 million worldwide against its $60 million budget.[1] It was nominated for Best Animated Feature Film at BAFTA and Golden Globe Awards.
5. The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes (1970)
The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes is a 1970 film based on the novel The Seven-Per-Cent Solution by Nicholas Meyer.
It stars Christopher Lee, Robert Stephens, and Colin Blakely as Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson, and Professor Moriarty, respectively. Geneviève Page plays Irene Adler.
Who was introduced to the Holmes canon in 1887’s A Scandal in Bohemia by Arthur Conan Doyle? The movie follows Holmes as he solves a case for his friend Sigmund Freud (Stephens).

6. Loch Ness (1996)

The first movie was made in 1996 by John Hough, and it starred Ted Danson as a monster hunter who comes to Scotland to find the monster.
His co-star was Catherine Oxenberg, who plays his wife, and Joely Richardson as their daughter. The movie is about a family living on an island off the shore of Scotland who has been receiving threatening phone calls from someone claiming to be The Loch Ness Monster.
7. Incident at Loch Ness (2004)
This 2004 film, directed by John Henderson, is based on the novel “The Loch” by Scott Mariani. The movie starred David Morrissey, Pauline Quirke, and Andy Serkis and was released in 2004.
It tells the story of a group of friends who decide to take a trip to Scotland to hunt for Nessie. They plan to rent a boat from an older man by Pauline Quirke), but she tells them their boat has sunk when they arrive at her home.
So instead, she suggests they go out with this guy named “Davy,” who lives in the loch area and has his fishing boat there too.
8. Tom and Jerry: the Fast and the Furry (2005)

The film was released in theatres on June 25, 2004, by Warner Bros. Pictures under their Warner Bros.
Family Entertainment label to positive reviews from critics but negative reception from fans of the franchise due to its radical changes from previous entries into the series.
The plot involves Shaggy Rogers (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne Blake (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma Dinkley (Linda Cardellini), Norville “Shaggy” Rogers (Matthew Lillard), Scooby-Doo (Frank Welker) visiting Scotland in search for clues regarding the mystery surrounding legendary monster sightings at Loch Ness.
They run into trouble when they meet Drs. McPhee and MacGuffin are trying to capture two monsters connected with local legends: The Water Horse and Scottish Ghost Dogs known as Cu Siths or Black Dogs.”
10. Sweet Prudence and the Erotic Adventure of Bigfoot (2011)
Sweet Prudence and the Erotic Adventure of Bigfoot is a B-movie directed by Jim Wynorski that takes on a variety of genres. It’s an homage to 1960s and 1970s monster movies but also features elements of comedy and erotica.
Wynorski started working with Corman in the mid-1980s, directing dozens of films over three decades and becoming one of his most prolific employees.
Together they produced this film under the “Roger Corman Presents” banner, as well as its sequel Sweet Prudence & The Erotic Adventures of Bigfoot 2: Primal Attraction (2012).
11. Freddie as F.r.o.7. (1992)
Freddie as F.R.O.7. is a 1992 British comedy film directed by John Henderson and written by John Henderson and David Lister, about the story of Freddie, a toy robot who was once owned by a boy named Peter and given the nickname F.R.O.7., which stands for “Freddie, Robot of Unimaginable Power.”
After being stored away in storage for many years without being used or played with much by anyone else (aside from one girl named Emily), an evil man named Colonel Gumm finds out about him. This is one of the best on our list of the loch ness monster movies.
He returns to find him so he can use all of his power to help him take over the world with his army of robots called R-9000, who look similar but have different powers than Freddie (such as being able to fly).

This one is for you if you’re a fan of classic monster movies. It’s got all the elements: a group of people goes on a trip to Loch Ness, Scotland, to find the monster; when they get there, it’s an alien that crashed into the lake.
The plot isn’t as great as some other films in this genre. It was originally made for television, but overall it does justice to its subject matter and still manages to be pretty entertaining.
Michael Paré plays himself in this film, joined by Victoria Pratt (The Hand That Rocks The Cradle) and Mark Rolston (Aliens).
Beyond Loch Ness was directed by Andrew Jones (The Secret Saturdays), who also wrote the script with Mike Werb (Ben 10: Protector of Earth).
13. What a Whopper (1961)
What a Whopper is a 1961 American science fiction monster movie serial written by Lou Rusoff, directed by Ed Bernds, and starring John Ashley, Yvette Vickers, and Robert Shayne.
In 2057, earthlings colonized the planet Mars in hopes of finding an alternative to Earth’s dwindling resources. This is another great addition to our list of the loch ness monster movies.
However, when some miners become ill from eating meat contaminated with radioactive material from ancient Martian ruins–which may have contained toxic gases–scientist Dr. Morris investigates these ruins hoping to find an antidote for his colleagues’ sickness.
