Have you ever watched an X-Men movie but couldn’t remember the order in which they came out? It can be frustrating, especially when a new one is released.

The X-Men franchise has been running for over 18 years. The first movie was released in 2000, and the latest, Dark Phoenix, has just been released.

A complete timeline of all X-Men movies is in chronological order from their modest conceptions to the present day.

Below is the complete chronological order of all X-Men Movies in order in one place. You can use this list to answer the question, “Is movie X part 1 or 2?.

1. X-Men First Class (2011)

This prequel is the first X-Men set in the universe, most of which occurred in 1962 as young Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) met Erik Lensherr (Michael Fassbender) to follow. Former Nazi evolutionist (Kevin Bacon).

The film is set against the background of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

2. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

This is a trick. Technically, most of the events in X-Men: Days of Future Past took place in 1973, but it is also a pre-set film that takes place simultaneously in 2023.

Future Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), his ability has been put back. In his 1973 stint to prevent the Bolivar Trask (Peter Dinklage) from using the blood of Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) to create the Sentinels, do not perish in the future.

As if that were not enough confusion, at the end of the film, Future Wolverine successfully transformed the past, possibly erasing the 2023 timeline we just saw and all the events in the X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand.

Since 1973, there has been a new way forward for changes that may differ slightly from before.

Furthermore, you have two options when it comes to watching Days of Future Past—you can watch it a second time with the 1973 program or watch it at the end as a conclusion that narrows the whole timeline and ends with “New Future” when Professor X is older, and Jean Gray is still alive.

3. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

The first X-Men spinoff film was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which explicitly tells the story of the origin of Wolverine’s character Hugh Jackman.

The story dates back to 1845 when Logan’s youth power first became apparent, but the film took place primarily in 1979 and revealed how Logan lost his memory.

4. X-Men: Apocalypse (2016)

So this “prequel” closely follows the events of the X-Men: First Class and the 1970s set in the Days of Future Past, as the X-Men: Apocalypse was set up in 1983 and acquires older versions of -X-Men—against the wicked (and for centuries) Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac).

5. Dark Phoenix (2019)

X-Men, the last film to feature the “younger” characters, is X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which took place in 1992 and transformed the comic strip of Dark Phoenix.

By the end of the film, Jean Gray (Sophie Turner) has turned into a Phoenix, which is slightly confusing in how it connects to the next movie in chronological order.

6. X-Men (2000)

So, for the X-Men movies to work, you have to ignore the events at the end of the Dark Phoenix – but otherwise, it fits well.

The first X-Men film took place in the year 2000, as it was released on the day it was released.

7. X2: X-Men United (2003)

YouTube video

The first X-Men sequel, X2: X-Men United, appeared almost three years after the X-Men events in 2003.

Personally, it does little to the timeline, considering Wolverine later goes back in time to change the past into days of the future past, but it sets the stage for X-Men: The Last Stand.

8. X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

The last episode of the franchise’s first line-up, X-Men: The Last Stand, occurred in 2006.

9. Wolverine (2013)

YouTube video

The 20th Century Fox tried again with something to restart the character of Wolverine, as Wolverine acted as the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: The Last Stand.

It happened in 2013 and found Logan fighting the trauma of Jean Gray’s death on X2.

10. Deadpool (2016)

Although recently added to the mix, Deadpool, with its wit, was secondarily added to the X-men timeline for 2016. It brings much-needed humor to these X-Men movies in order of timeline.

After being diagnosed with terminal cancer that day, his girlfriend (Monica Baccarin) accepted his marriage proposal.

Former Special Ops agent Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) created a shady organization that offered a cure for her cancer.

The premise perfectly sets it up to create paths for stand-alone films in this franchise.

11. The New Mutants (2020)

This is weird. Director Josh Boone initially wanted the long-running Fox-Marvel film to be delayed in the 1990s, but after the X-Men box office, the Apocalypse box office was asked to make it today.

Boone argues that the story “began to be in the first line of X-Men” but is now its thing with a solid connection to the X-Men universe.

This movie probably took place in 2017, but there are no significant timeline changes to the story’s events.

12. Deadpool 2 (2018)

YouTube video

Deadpool 2 includes a much shorter cameo from the new X-Men, as it happened in 2018. It also incorporates meta-travel time-travel jokes as Deadpool returns to the X-Men Origins events.

Wolverine also kills Ryan Reynolds’ rerun of the former Deadpool character. Concluding this timeline,

13. Logan (2017)

YouTube video

The most iconic franchise brand is the R-rated drama Logan film, whose action takes place far in the future in 2029.

It serves as a conclusion, including the main characters’ appropriate canonical death.
