Shows about superheroes have arguably been overdone to the point where just hearing about a new one makes you groan.
But My Hero Academia is definitely different. It takes a new spin on the superhero genre and actually makes it interesting.
And with four seasons and two movies (as of this moment) under its belt, there’s plenty to keep you busy.
Sounds good, but can you watch this anime on Netflix? Well, you can, but only in a few countries. We’ll tell you which ones in this article.

The truth is that it’s hard to give you a complete list of the countries where the show is available.
Don’t forget – Netflix is available in 190+ countries, and where it’s content can and can’t be watched changes pretty often.
The good news is that there is an online tool that can accurately tell you which countries have which Netflix shows: StreamCatcher.
The service belongs to ProPrivacy, a very popular site that covers VPNs, password managers, cloud backup, ad blockers, and another related tech.
When you use StreamCatcher, it tells you which VPN server locations you need to use to unblock the shows and movies you look up.
It’s pretty much the closest you can get to find a list of countries where Netflix content is available.
After looking up My Hero Academia, we found that it’s available in the following places: South Korea, France, Japan, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland.

How to Unblock My Hero Academia on Netflix
Netflix uses geo-blocks to stop you from watching this anime if you’re not from the “right” country.
So, the solution is simple: you need a way to trick Netflix into thinking you’re from a different country, one where the show is available.
But how do you do that, though?
The easiest solution is to use a VPN. For those of you who have heard about VPNs but don’t know what they are, they’re the only services that stop websites from seeing where you’re from. They do that by hiding your IP address.
But enough talk about what VPNs are and how they work. Let’s see how you can use them to unblock this awesome anime series:
- First Step – Buy a VPN subscription. If you’d like some recommendations, try ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and PrivateVPN.
- Second Step – From your VPN account’s dashboard, download the right app for your device.
- Third Step – Install the app. Then, run it and use it to connect to a server in a country where My Hero Academia is available (like Japan or South Korea).
- Fourth Step – Go to Netflix, log into your account, look up the anime, and start binging it as much as you want!
Speed Optimization Tips for an Enjoyable Experience
VPNs are excellent Netflix unblockers. However, they can slow down your online speeds.
Normally, that’s not a big problem because Netflix doesn’t require high speeds for SD and HD quality – just 3 Mbps (SD) and 5 Mbps (HD).

There’s no denying that OpenVPN is a very secure protocol. But you don’t really need high-end security right now. You need smooth speeds.
And OpenVPN doesn’t really offer them since it’s very resource-intensive. Plus, the protocol only uses one CPU, no matter how many you have.
Try using better alternatives like IKEv2, L2TP/IPSec, and WireGuard. We especially love WireGuard because we always get very fast speeds (100+ Mbps) and quick server response times.
What if you can only use OpenVPN on your device, though? In that case, make sure the protocol is running over UDP instead of TCP. You should get better speeds that way.
2. Connect to the Closest Server
If you’re using a server on a different continent, you’ll obviously get slower speeds. It will take longer for data packets to reach their destination due to the distance, after all.
So only connect to nearby locations. For example, if you’re in Europe, don’t use Asian servers (Japan and South Korea). Use other European VPN servers (Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, etc.).
3. Try Wired Connections Instead of WiFi
When you use WiFi, the strength of the signal will dictate what VPN speeds you’ll get. If the signal is too weak, your speeds will be too slow.
The best way around that is to use wired connections. Just hook up your device to the router via an ethernet cable, and your speeds should noticeably improve.
In many cases, that’s easier said than done, though. If you can’t use wired connections, try the next best thing(s):
- Bring your device as close as you can to the router (or the other way around).
- Use range extenders (TP-Link has some decent options) to increase the strength of your signal.
4. Use Split Tunneling (If Available)
Split tunneling lets you pick which data gets encrypted by the VPN and which data gets left out of the VPN tunnel. Translated, that means you can make sure the VPN only encrypts Netflix traffic.
Why?
Because there’s less information to encrypt and decrypt, meaning you’ll get slightly faster speeds.
