Dere” is an anime archetype that is assigned to many characters. The different types of Dere have other Character traits that define their actions and personality.
Some dere kinds are more well-known than others, while others are so esoteric that they are almost unknown. However, there are more than ten different varieties of Dere, some of which are more common than others.
Furthermore, the dere archetypes listed here are some of the most common ones seen in anime, but some uncommon ones have also been included.

1. Tsundere
You’ve probably heard the Tsundere say things like “it’s not like I gave you this [insert item here] Baka” or “it’s not like I was worried about you” with a pouty look.
Additionally, a person appears cold and unfriendly on the outside but is sweet and caring on the inside when surrounded by the proper people. It’s the most well-known Dere type, inspired by the character Ayu Daikuuji from the visual novel Kima ga Nozomu Eien.
Katy Perry’s song Hot N Cold wonderfully captures Tsundere’s changeable feeling, as they may be sorting out their sentiments and responses toward the people in their lives. Furthermore, they might be cruel one day and compassionate the next.
2. Hiyakasudere
This is another type of Dere that is less well-known, but that could be because it overlaps with other dere kinds like Tsundere and sadder. “Hiyakasu” is a Japanese verb that means “to banter, mock, or jeer at.” Hiyakasudere characters like teasing and toying with their love relationships in this way.
They’re not as harsh as sadoderes or as vulnerable to humiliation as Tsundere. Thus this archetype may stand on its own. A great example of a hiyakasudere is Holo from Spice & Wolf, and she’s always picking on Lawrence and engaging in witty sparring matches.
3. Yandere
On the surface, Yandere’s characters appear to be quite lovely. They can be upbeat and friendly with others, or they can be timid, and the main character will immediately build a bond with you.
Their genial demeanor, however, conceals a deadly side. Characters in Yandere are possessive and dominating.
Furthermore, most people will kill or isolate their love interest from society. They take rejection very severely (which has a 90 percent chance of happening).
4. Dandere
Dandere is a shy, quiet, and asocial person in most instances. To avoid controversy, they choose to remain silent.
Despite their reserved attitude, when they’re alone with the proper person or group, these introverts will open up and exhibit their Dere side.
5. DereDere
Next on our list of different types of Dere is DereDere. A Deredere is a type of character who is friendly and optimistic, and they tend to spread happiness and positivity to others around them.
In addition, thethe root of the word Deredere is “deredere,” which means “love-struct,” but it does not have the same straightforward connotation as the other varieties.
6. Thunder
Throughout the series, the Thunder characters are depressed and gloomy. “Shun” is derived from the Japanese onomatopoeia “shun…,” implying sadness and melancholy.
In addition, Characters who are shundere don’t always require a reason to be sad, simply being gloomy is usually enough to earn them the title. Tomoko Kuroki of WataMote is an example of a shundere: No Matter How I Look at It,
Furthermore, it’s Your Guys’ Fault I’m Unpopular! Tomoko is a shy introvert who is uncomfortable in social situations.
Additionally, she tries to fit in several times throughout the series and fails spectacularly, usually due to her naivete and hubris… and as a result, she is generally depressed.
7. Kuudere
As the name implies, the Kuudere is always excellent. They remain calm and composed even in the most stressful conditions, and Kuudere never panics, and, in the end, they are frequently distant and analytical.
They, unlike the Dandere, rarely show sympathy or emotion to others in any situation, yet they may be concealing their actual feelings deep within.
Furthermore, the Thunder, who are always emotionless because they are sad or miserable, are an extreme manifestation of this feature. They rarely engage with people and keep their genuine emotions hidden deeper than a Kuudere.
8. Sadodere
Sadodere is also one of the different types of Dere. Their characters enjoy the sadistic manipulation of others. Sadodere’s “Sado” corresponds to the Japanese pronunciation of the English word “sadomasochism,” just as the “kuu” in kuudere comes from an English word.
Furthermore, Sadodere personalities enjoy putting their love interests in difficult situations that inflict them physical or emotional pain or humiliation.
Sadodere characters have no empathy for others and are exclusively interested in the people they care about. Kurumi Tokisaki from Date A Live is an example of a sadodere.
Kurumi manipulates Shidou Itsuka frequently throughout the series, believing that she is the only one who can do so. Additionally, Kurumi saves Shidou in various situations but permanently eventually harms him.
9. Bakadere
A Bakadere is a character who is incredibly foolish, and they are frequently devoid of common sense. Additionally, Bakadere is made out of two words: “Baka,” which means stupid, and “dereredere,” which means love-struck.
10. Kamidere
Characters with a god complex are called kamidere, with “kami” referring to the Japanese word for “god.” Kamidere characters, like other dere types, are genderless, but there are a few different varieties of kamidere characters.
All kamidere characters have a sense of pride in themselves and their “god-like” abilities. Meanwhile, this can lead to them believing they are gods or superior beings.
One form of kamidere will have these beliefs while still respecting others, while the other will be blatantly condescending, arrogant, and selfish.
Light Yagami from Death Note is an excellent example of a kamidere character, despite his lack of interest in love or romance outside of his manipulative purposes.
11. Bayadere
The Bayadere is also one of the different types of Dere. In most series, the Mayadere is presented as the antagonist or deuteragonist.
They switch over to the protagonist’s side to support them after an event that causes them to fall in love with the main character.
While they may appear unfriendly or scary at first, they eventually alter their minds and reveal their actual thoughts to the protagonist.
12. Kekkondere
A Kekkondere is someone who believes in love at first sight and wants to marry straight soon. Their drive to marry arises from a solid wish to remain close to the person they meet, for better or ill.
Additionally, they have the potential to be creepy and determined to the point of being Yanderes. The Kekkondere are looking for someone special to spend the rest of their lives with, and they’ll find it eventually.
13. Bodere
The bodere blends the Tsundere’s ferocious character with the dandere’s timidity. However, when it comes to the opposite sex, bodere characters are usually bashful and lash out to mask their humiliation.
14. Nylander
Next on our list of different types of Dere is Nylander. A Nyandere is a character with cat-like characteristics such as cat ears and a tail.
Furthermore, they generally complete their sentences with the word “Nyan.” Nylander is made up of two words: “Nyan,” a Japanese onomatopoeia meaning a cat’s sound, and “dereredere,” which indicates “love-struck.”
15. Himedere and Oujidere
The two sides of the same coin are Himedere and Oujidere. The Japanese term for “princess” is “hime,” and the Japanese word for “prince” is “ouji.”
These characters don’t have to be real princes and princesses, but they act like royalty and want their love relationships to do the same.
Despite being a member of the low-ranking Black Bulls, Noelle Silva from Black Clover is an example of a himedere from a royal family. She expects everyone to respect her like royalty.
Noelle, in particular, is Tsundere to Asta. Ciel Phantomhive from Black Butler is an example of an outsider, and Ciel is conceited and entrusts everything to his servants.
16. Yottadere
A Yottadere has an unhealthy obsession with alcohol, and they can become irritable or even pass out in a corner when they’re inebriated. When Yottaderes are impaired, they show a side of themselves that they typically hide when they’re with someone they care about.
17. Nemuidere
A Nemuidere is someone who is perpetually tired and sluggish. They prefer to sleep a lot and need to be prodded into action by others.
In addition, the Darudere are similarly indolent, only doing things when someone they care about asks them to. These individuals frequently display a secret side of power, making them excellent allies.
18. Kanedere
Anyone who calls themselves a Kanedere admits to being a gold digger. They only care about people with power and money, ignoring everyone else unless they can exploit them.
However, if they meet the proper person, they may learn to appreciate someone for who they indeed are rather than their wealth.
19. Goudere
Rounding up the list of different types of Dere is Goudere. A Goudere is a character who regards their beloved as their master and will go to any length to please them.
They have a highly romanticized view of their lover and will go to any size to satisfy them, regardless of their beliefs. This can result in amusing and occasionally disastrous scenarios involving the cast.
Additionally, the Don’t pay for this house Under, who is effectively a ‘yes-man’ to everything their spouse instructs them to do, is an extension of this personality type.
Regardless of the consequences, their outstanding commitment prevents them from simply betraying those closest to them.
