Carter and his sister, Frankie, become friends with the stray dog. The children keep him hidden in their chamber and name him Benji, after Benjamin Franklin.

9. Bolt (2008)

YouTube video
  • Director: Byron Howard and Chris Williams
  • Star cast: John Travolta, Miley Cyrus, Susie Essman, and Mark Walton
  • IMDb ratings: 6.9

If Truman were a cute puppy, the bolt would be nearly like a sequel to Jim Carrey’s The Truman Show. Bolt is the protagonist of a made-up action series.

Despite this, everything in his environment has been designed to make him believe he is the show’s super-powered dog.

When he is mistakenly transferred across the country, he discovers the truth. He must learn to deal with his new situation as he journeys home.

Along the way, he is helped by a stray cat named Mittens and an exuberant hamster named Rhino.

YouTube video

  • IMDb ratings: 6.5

Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle has a strong Tarzan flavor, but it finally tells its own story. Based on Rudyard Kipling’s popular tales, Mowgli is raised by a family of wolves in the jungle, but he yearns to join the surrounding human society as he grows older.

While Mowgli immerses himself in a human world, hunters threaten his animal family, and it is up to him to find a way for his two worlds to coexist.

  • IMDb ratings: 6.6

Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, and Jada Pinkett Smith star as misbehaving zoo animals in the Madagascar series. Regrettably, Netflix only has the second movie available.

This is an excellent pick if you’re searching for a movie with charming talking animal characters, especially viewing it with teenagers.

Madagascar 2 tells the funny and humorous narrative of Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, Melman the giraffe, and Gloria the hippo’s experiences in Africa, where they wind up after attempting to return home to the Central Park Zoo.

It also features some heartwarming scenes, such as Alex’s reunion with his long-lost family and the bonding of animal friends.

12. Balto (1995)

He sees an opportunity to show himself when local teenagers are infected with diphtheria and the doctor is out of medication.

This is one of the best animal movies on Netflix. It has thrilling action and touching moments, as well as a sweet, straightforward narrative that even grownups can relate to.

13. Beverly Hills Chihuahua (2008)

YouTube video
  • Director: Raja Gosnell
  • Star casts: Drew Barrymore, George Lopez, and Piper Perabo
  • IMDb ratings: 3.9

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is like The Secret Life of Pets but with spoilt dogs from Los Angeles’ most affluent neighborhood. Fortunately, after a quick set-up, the movie does not spend much time in Beverly Hills.

Instead, the protagonist dog, Chloe, becomes disoriented in Mexico and spends most of the movie attempting to find her way home and acquire some perspective.

Most notably, Beverly Hills Chihuahua boasts a slew of adorably adorable pets. That alone makes it difficult not to become emotionally immersed in the story. Also, dog lovers will be moved when some of the stray canines that assist Chloe are adopted.
