  • Starring: Rick Moranis, Matt Frewer, Marcia Strassman, Kristine Sutherland
  • Running Time: 93 minutes

Jumanji is full of crazy adventures. When considering movies like Jumanji filled with weird tales, this probably came to mind because it reminded me of a Halloween inspo used very recently by a legend for a family shoot. How would you feel if you were smaller than an Ant?

That was the story of a couple of kids and their neighbors who are shrunk to microscopic sizes due to a nearly abandoned science experiment gone right.

Inkheart has elements of fantasy and adventure like you would expect to see in movies like Jumanji, and we have Cornelia Funke to thank for writing the book that inspired this motion picture.

Jungle Cruise was inspired by one of the sights at Walt Disney’s Theme Park.

The movie is big on adventures and is one of our top recommendations among movies like Jumanji.

Interestingly, Dwayne features in this movie, and Walt Disney Pictures rightfully produced it.

Somewhere in South America, a tree that cures all ills and eliminates curses grows and is used by a particular tribe to perform healings.

The trio gets transported into outer space, and they must work hand in hand with an astronaut to return safely home.

12. Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle (2017)

  • Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Bobby Cannavale
  • Running Time: 119 minutes

Of course, this list featuring movies like Jumanji would be sorely incomplete without the addition of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, which is the third film in the Jumanji franchise following Zathura. The events take place 22 years after the events of the first film.

The story follows a group of teenagers who discover Jumanji, which has now transformed into a video game.

They get sucked into the game and become the avatars they had chosen. To avoid getting stuck forever, they must complete their quest – alongside another player who has been trapped since 1996.

13. Indiana Jones and The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull (2008)

  • Starring: Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, Karen Allen, Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent, Shia LaBeouf
  • Running Time: 122 minutes

This action-adventure film is the fourth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise and is a more than suitable watch for anyone looking for movies like Jumanji. It is set 19 years after the events of the previous film.

Famous archaeologist Indiana Jones discovers that his job at Marshall College hangs in the balance once he returns from his most recent adventures.

However, he meets a young man named Mutt who needs his help to find the famous Crystal Skull of Akator, and the two must race against KGB agent Irina Spalko for the legendary artifact.

  • Starring: Josh Hutcherson, Anna Sophia Robb, Robert Patrick, Zooey Deschanel

This fantasy film based on the 1977 novel of the same name by Katherine Paterson is one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.

It contains just the right amount of fantasy, adventure, and a couple of tweens to make it enjoyable for anyone looking for movies like Jumanji.

When Jess Aaron, a 12-year-old with issues with his family, meets Leslie Burke, a new student at school who is also his next-door neighbor, the two become friends, and they often venture into the woods, where they come upon an abandoned treehouse.

There, they invent an imaginary magical world called Terabithia that has different mythical creatures where they rule as king and queen.

The events occur two years after Welcome to the Jungle, where the same group of people, and two additions, get caught up in the game again.

However, the game is broken, and nothing is the way it was before. The group must overcome their issues with each other if they are to succeed in surviving and repairing the magical world.
