There are plenty of movies like 13 Reasons why on Netflix. 13 Reasons Why ended with a truncated fourth season in June 2020. 

Since its debut, the contentious series has undergone significant changes. It began as a series about Hannah Baker and the choices and events that led to her death when it launched on Netflix in 2017. 

Hannah’s tale continued in Season 2, delving deeper into her secret existence. Season 3 took a massive turn with a mystery involving all our favorite characters.

With the arrival of the character Ani, the story took on a whole new dimension.

According to the teaser for 13 Reasons Why Season 4, the students’ secrets, lies, and murders will be revealed in the final season. Clay seemed to be on the verge of exploding.  

From beginning to end, 13 Reasons Why was an emotional roller coaster. It’s not for everyone, and parents should exercise caution when letting their children watch it. 

For fans of 13 Reasons Why, though, it was a show about the loneliness, consequences, and sadness that can plague teenagers as they strive to figure out who they are.

3. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower (2012)

Logan Lerman stars as Charlie Price, a teenager whose life takes a surprising turn when he discovers the body of a young woman in the woods behind his house.  

When Charlie looks for answers, he uncovers a sinister secret that threatens the lives of those closest to him.  

Starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Sam Riley, Mae Whitman, and Michael Angarano, The Perks of Being a Wallflower explores themes like addiction, suicide, mental illness, bullying, sexuality, and friendship.  

Furthermore, this coming-of-age story, based on the best-selling novel by Stephen Chbosky, focuses on the impact these issues have on teenage life.  

4. Knives Out (2019)

Knife’s Out has a lot of things going for it, including great acting and an interesting premise. But what sets it apart from other films of its kind is how real and honest it feels.  

Set in contemporary America, the plot involves seven relatives attending a family gathering where secrets surface, causing irreparable damage.  

It sounds like your average psychological thriller, but Knives Out takes unexpected turns and subverts expectations.  

This movie will not disappoint even if you know nothing about it, but it remains enjoyable even if you don’t. Its only flaw is that it doesn’t explore some of the darker truths within itself, which would make for a more powerful ending.

And I mean that in the most suitable kind of way possible. The film stars Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Ana de Armas, Lakeith Stanfield, and Jamie Lee Curtis, directed by Rian Johnson. 

5. Through My Window (2017)

Through my Window is also one of the best movies, like 13 reasons why on Netflix. It is an indie drama/comedy released into theatres in 2017.  

In this film, Rosemary is a photographer who wants to document her life through photographs. However, she believes that her life is mundane and boring. She meets Caleb, a man who seems normal at first, but soon, the two fall deeply in love. While they are falling in love,  

Rosemary realizes that her life isn’t so typical. Soon, she finds out that everything she thought was true about herself wasn’t true. The movie shows us how people can be selfish and hurtful to each other because of their flaws and mistakes. 

The characters are all flawed in different ways. They’re both very lonely, and Rosemary thinks she has found someone special until she finds out he doesn’t exist.  

Additionally, there are many twists and turns along the way, drama, and laughs. The top cast includes Anya Taylor Joy, Thomas Mann, and David Dencik. 

6. Love & Friendship (2016)

Love & Friendship is a 2016 British period romance film directed by Richard Loncraine and written by Abi Morgan. The film stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen, Jim Broadbent, Kelly MacDonald, and Rosamund Pike.  

Additionally, the film follows the relationship between two women during the Georgian era. One is Lady Susan Vernon, played by Keira Knightley, who falls in love with the son of Lord Darlington.  

The other is Lady Sarah Bunting, played by Rosamund Pike, who falls in love and marries the son of Sir John Middleton, played by Jim Broadbent.

The Lobster is a 2015 French dystopian comedy film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and starring Colin Farrell, Rachel Weisz, John C Reilly, Olivia Colman, Ben Whishaw, and Tilda Swinton.  

The film tells the story of a single man named David (Colin Farrell), who wakes up one morning to find himself trapped inside a hotel room with no memory of how he got there or why.  

He tries desperately to escape while being pursued by a mysterious woman named Astrid (Rachel Weisz). 

8. The Death of Stalin (2018)

The Death of Stalin is next on our list of best movies, like 13 reasons why on Netflix. Additionally, the Death of Stalin is a 2018 black comedy film directed by Armando Iannucci and written by Tony Roche.  

Furthermore, the film depicts the last days of Joseph Stalin as he battles against his rivals in the Soviet Politburo. It stars Steve Buscemi, Jeffrey Tambor, Michael Palin, Simon Russell Beale, and Lily Tomlin.  

9. The Big Sick (2017)

The Big Sick is a 2017 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Michael Showalter and written by Emily V. Gordon.  

The film follows Pakistani-American comedian Kumail Nanjiani, who has just moved back home to Chicago from San Francisco after graduating college. His girlfriend Emily (Zoe Kazan) gets sick with a stomach virus and needs him to take care of her.

The plot revolves around a 17-year-old girl named Bee (Hailee Steinfeld) who moves across the country to live with her aunt following the death of her mother. She meets Jake (Brady Noon), a boy who lives next door, and they fall in love.  

However, she discovers that he is a high school senior and that he has been lying to everyone about his age. The film stars Hailee Steinfeld, Brady Noon, Blake Jenner, Alexis Bledel, and Jacob Tremblay.
