What are your 2019 comic book movies? Movies based on comic books, love them or hate them, there’s no denying their massive success.

Although Hollywood has regularly made horror films for the last two decades, production levels have increased dramatically during the past decade.

It used to be that if a Marvel or DC film came out, it was a big deal, but now audiences have grown to anticipate many films from both franchises each year, not just in the summer.

In 2019, 15 2019 comic book movies were released, with Marvel and DC Comics continuing to dominate the market and Dark Horse finally earning some recognition.

Find out what’s coming up next by reading on!

1. X-Men: Dark Phoenix

The series again failed to respect the “Dark Phoenix” narrative, and the last feature in the mainstream X-Men film series was the poorest.

Instead, the movie morphed into a vengeance thriller with the X-Men behaving in ways that went against their stereotypes.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix was a dismal failure that concluded the series poorly. It failed to resolve any of the existing plotlines, and it ended on a cliffhanger that doesn’t make sense in the context of the film’s chronology. Dark Phoenix is one of the 2019 comic book movies.

2. Hellboy

The Hellboy remake, which neglected the plot in favor of mindless violence, failed miserably at making the audience feel anything.

The movie drags because of its weak narrative, which consists mostly of Hellboy wandering about killing and gouging people.

The primary issue was that Hellboy aimed for extreme edginess at the expense of the fantastic storytelling that made the first films in the series so enjoyable.

Only viewers with a high tolerance for gun violence could like this. If you are looking for one of the thrilling 2019 comic book movies, Hellboy is one to consider.

3. Brightburn

Bright burn, one of the popular 2019 comic book movies, was all promise and very little delivery, despite its great expectations as a live-action take on what an evil Superman-like figure might be like.

Unfortunately, the film’s character becomes monotonous once the plot’s meat is introduced.

While the film’s horror components were novel, the film’s execution veers into predictable terrain and wastes an opportunity to develop the main character beyond his or her violent nature.

4. Justice League vs. The Fatal Five

The list of 2019 comic book movies would be incomplete without Justice League: The Fatal Five. When the Justice League and other heroes and villains from DC’s animated universe arrived, they brought with them some new faces.

Although Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman all have low-key parts, the movie does a fantastic job of bringing attention to mental health by including the main character who struggles with it.

Because of this, the story’s setting turns exciting, even if the plot itself isn’t fascinating. To see the DCAU back on the air is a delight in and of itself.

5. Reign of the Superman

Since the Man of Steel is usually too strong to put down for very long, it isn’t easy to make Superman tales compelling. However, the film’s creative spark is enhanced by the presence of many Superman protagonists.

Unfortunately, the final product was a bit of a mess, with far too many Supermen taking up much of the screen time and some other elements needing to be more utilized.

However, the resolution makes up for these lapses in clarity, so the picture is still worth seeing. Reign of Superman is a must-watch among the 2019 comic book movies that were released that year.

6. Captain Marvel

One of the main reasons many were looking forward to one of the best 2019 comic book movies, Captain Marvel, was to see how it might impact Avengers: Endgame. Captain Marvel, though, ended up being more of its own thing.

The acting was the film’s saving grace, but the narrative and tempo were too predictable to enjoy. It was too similar to previous Marvel Cinematic Universe efforts to stand out, yet the dynamic between the title character and Nick Fury made up for some of the film’s flaws.

7. Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans

While it managed to keep the film’s infectious spirit and provide a crossover that audiences went wild for, it retreads many terrains that had already been covered in the first film.

While entertaining at times, the picture became too self-aware due to the jokes, yet still, it is also one of the best 2019 comic book movies that were released that year.

The film is entertaining; it caters to the younger end of the fandom and won’t hold the attention of older viewers as well.

However, the film might have performed better if it had sacrificed some of its comic elements in favor of serious action.

8. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines

This is a refreshing contrast from usual Wonder Woman tales, which tend to include other Justice League members in significant roles.

The fact that she encounters several antagonists throughout the film only adds to its excellence.

While the film’s lack of epic grandeur was a letdown, the strong character development and thrilling combat scenes featuring Wonder Woman more than made up for it in Bloodlines.

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines is also a joy to watch among the 2019 comic book movies on this list.

9. Glass

Superhero and horror aspects came together in the trilogy’s climax, “Eastrail 177,” which perfectly encapsulates the series’s tone throughout.

There’s no denying Glass’s captivating nature from beginning to end, despite the fact that it didn’t wholly embrace either facet.

The movie was riveting up to its finale, with Kevin Wendell Crumb’s 23 personas keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.

As one of the 2019 comic book movies, even though the finale wasn’t perfect, the narrative was engaging.

10. Batman: Hush

In a refreshing departure from the norm, Batman: Hush focuses on romance instead of the usual series gloom.

In addition, the film’s mystery element is strengthened by the central pursuit to learn who or what Hush is.

Introducing so many familiar Batman foes without breaking the movie’s momentum or tone ensures that there’s never a dull moment; the movie’s adversaries have distinct personalities that keep things interesting.

11. Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home was the perfect antidote to the heavy tone of Avengers: Endgame, making audiences laugh and grin once again.

The movie’s photography and atmosphere added substantially to the experience, especially given its road film scenario, in which the protagonists travel to one magnificent background after another.

The picture was heartfelt, expanding Peter Parker and his Spider-Man persona, and had a great deal of genuine humor.

With the exception of the film’s anticlimactic disclosure of Mysterio’s actual motives, it was a good entry. It is still regarded as one of the best 2019 comic book movies.

12. Joker

One of the best 2019 comic book movies in the superhero genre, yet with all those Batman allusions, Joker is impossible to dismiss.

In any case, the backstory of the Clown Prince of Crime was horrific but presented a strangely sympathetic view of the villain.

Thanks mainly to Joaquin Phoenix’s outstanding performance, Joker captivates its audience by delving deep into the villain’s psyche and delivering a memorable message.

13. Shazam!

Also, one of the 2019 comic book movies, Shazam!, was the year’s biggest surprise and a true cinematic treasure. Moreover, it was a refreshingly casual tour of the superhero world, which was desperately needed.

The film’s concept of family shines brightly, and the effects keep up with the young enthusiasm, giving the picture a great deal of heart. Shazam! Successfully shown that comedic superhero movies are viable genres.

If the film honored the eleven years of narrative and brought together more characters than you could count, it must be seen.

The emotional toll of seeing Avengers: Endgame was worth it, however, since the film managed to leave viewers laughing and crying in equal measure.

Everything that has been said about the picture has been said before; it successfully delivered on its enormous scale by providing epic action set pieces and by checking all the boxes in terms of continuity. Even while it wasn’t the end of the MCU, it was a fitting conclusion.
