You have probably heard of and thought of a way to see the Descendants movies in order. First, you should know what kind of movie you’re about to see. 

Descendants is a Disney channel fantasy movie created by Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon and directed by Kenny Ortega. It serves as the foundation of the American media franchise. 

The series centers on the lives of four teenage children of some Disney villains on the Isle of the Lost. It also talks about their transfer to Auradon at the request of the son of the Queen and King. 

The franchise is set in a way that acts as a sequel to the Disney Animated Classics series. In July 2015, the first movie was made available.

Descendants 1 (2015)

The first movie you should see when watching the Descendants movie in order is Descendants 1. In the beginning, Beast and Belle rule as King and Queen in the United States of Auradon.

They united the settings of numerous Disney animated films and exiled all villains to the Isle of the Lost. A slum encircled by a barrier that prevents the use of magic. 

Ben, their son, announces a program to bring four children from the Isle of the Lost to live in Auradon. Mal and Evie, daughters of Maleficent and Evil Queen, respectively.

They were also joined by Jay, Jafar’s son, and Carlos, Cruella De Vil’s son. The reason is to be free from the manipulation of their evil parents.

In order to take control of Auradon, Maleficent commands them to seize the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand. Plus, she told them to turn off the barrier.

However, the four are able to blend in and experience a kind of upbringing they never had. Mal starts dating Ben in place of Audrey, the daughter of Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip.

Inadvertently dispelling the barrier causes Maleficent to attack Ben’s coronation and change into a dragon. 

Mal chooses to do good after Ben encourages her to do so. Mal and her companions reprimand Maleficent. 

They also transform her into a tiny lizard from which she can emerge if she fills her heart with love. With this turn of events, Auradon residents celebrate.

Descendants 2 (2017)

According to the franchise, the next film when Descendants movies in order is Descendants 2 (2017). Here, Mal struggles with her newfound fame as King Ben’s girlfriend.

She uses magic in secret to uphold what she sees as a false standard of living. Mal believes she does not belong in Auradon and leaves, returning back to the Isle.

Unfortunately, her old competitor, Uma, and friends, Harry and Gil, have taken over as the gang’s leaders.

Mal rejects Ben because she thinks it’s best for him and Auradon, but Evie, Jay, and Carlos agree to help find her. 

Ben is kidnapped by Uma, who demands the Fairy Godmother’s wand in return for Ben’s life. Ben regards Uma as a leader and extends an invitation to reside in Auradon.

Uma shows up as Ben’s date at the shipboard Royal Cotillion and declares he will destroy the barrier. 

Mal understands Ben is under Uma’s spell; she acknowledges the emotion of love and kisses Ben to break the spell.

This comes after she learns that Ben had a painting of her before using magic to transform herself. As they compete, Uma and Mal change into an octopus and a dragon, respectively.

Uma refuses to come to an agreement when Ben tries to reason with her. Evie then requests Ben to bring additional kids from the Isle to Auradon, which he agrees to.

Descendants 3 (2019)

Finally, Descendants 3 (2019) is the last movie to see when watching the Descendants Movies in order. Mal becomes the future queen of Auradon after Ben proposes to her in the movie.

Threats from Uma, Hades, Mal’s father, and Audrey, Ben’s ex-girlfriend, have Mal working to put an end to evil completely.

 Hades attempts to break through the barrier as Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos enlist a new generation of villainous children. 

Audrey steals the crown and scepter and transforms into the bad version of herself. In order to recover Hades’ ember, the VKs head back to the Isle of the Lost.

Later, Uma, Harry, and Gil join forces with Mal and the others to prevent Audrey from destroying Auradon.

What’s Next for the Descendants Movies?

According to Disney+’s official press release, Descendants 4 will be titled ‘The Pocketwatch.’ There is currently no Descendants 4 release date yet, but we can expect to see it pretty soon.
