It’s the season to curl up beneath a blanket on the couch, eat comfort food, and watch a lot of movies.

Well, what better to watch right now than some of these heartwarming Gay Christmas movies?  

Although Christmas is as gay as fuck and Rudolph is a gay icon, holiday films don’t have the best reputation for queer storytelling.  

However, because of historic rom coms like Lifetime’s The Christmas Setup, Hallmark’s The Christmas House, and Hulu’s Happiest Season, which historically became the first gay Christmas film distributed by a major studio, the holiday season has never been gayer.  

Furthermore, we’re delighted to report that the festive queer hasn’t slowed down this year, with a slew of flicks set to hit theaters in the coming weeks that will have the LGBTQ+ community sleighing like never before. 

We’ve compiled a list of some of the most popular gay Christmas movies available on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and other streaming services, so there should be something for everyone!

1. The Christmas House 2: Deck Those Hall (2020)

The Christmas House, Hallmark’s first film with a significant homosexual couple, is getting a sequel, with Jonathan Bennett and Brad Harder reprising their roles as married pair Brandon and Jake.

Furthermore, Phylis and Bill Mitchell, matriarch and patriarch of the Mitchell family, have invited their two grown sons.  

Brandon and TV star Mike, home for the holidays while they work through some difficult decisions.

Furthermore, they hope that they will find a resolution by getting the family together to recreate The Christmas House. And also create a wonderful holiday for the entire family and community.  

Brandon and his husband, Jake, anxiously await word on their first child’s adoption as they drive back to their hometown.

Meanwhile, Mike rekindles his relationship with Andi, his high school love. Starring Robert Buckley, Treat Williams, Ana Ayora, Jonathan Bennett, Sharon Lawrence, Brad Harder.  

2. Dashing In December (2020)

Dashing in December is one of the best gay Christmas movies. Wyatt Burwell returns home for the holidays in the hopes of persuading his mother, Deb, to sell the family’s Colorado ranch.

Additionally, a romance blossoms between Wyatt and their dashing new ranch hand Heath Ramos.  

Ramos dreams of saving the beloved property and the ranch’s magical Winter Wonderland attraction while also reawakening the spirit of Christmas in Wyatt’s lonely heart.

Starring Juan Pablo Di Pace, Peter Porte, Caroline Harris, Andie McDowell, Carlos Sanz. 

3. A Jenkins Family Christmas (2021)

Secrets and drama are revealed in this brand new, queer-inclusive family epic starring Broadway actor/photographer Anthony Chatmon II and our model Derek Chadwick!  

Furthermore, “The Jenkins Family tries to carry on with their Christmas traditions while learning to navigate a new normal after the loss of a loved one,” says the synopsis.

Starring Kim Coles, Regina Taylor, Derek Chadwick, Anthony Chatmon II. 

4. Single All the Way (2021)

Single All the way is one of the best gay Christmas movies you should watch this season. 

Peter encourages his best buddy Nick to join him for the holidays. And also pretend that they’re now in a relationship to dodge his family’s criticism about his single constant status.  

The scheme, however, goes haywire when Peter’s mother sets him up on a blind date with her gorgeous trainer James.

Starring Michael Urie, Philemon Chambers, Kathy Najimy, Luke Macfarlane. 

5. The Christmas Setup (2020)

Hugo Spencer, facing his regular year-end review, issues a request to his boss, George Vogel.

He requested a position as a partner in the new year, or he’ll look for a job elsewhere. Such forthrightness about himself is unusual for a Manhattan lawyer.  

Furthermore, just before he and Madelyn McKay, his BFF since college freshman year, are to head off to Milwaukee to spend Christmas with his long-widowed mother Kate Spencer and his army soldier brother Aiden Spencer, hardworking and talented Manhattan.  

Additionally, Vogel confesses that the idea of Hugo becoming a partner had not yet crossed his or the other partners’ minds.

But it is something they will think about over the Christmas break. Starring Blake Les, Ben Lewis, Ellen Wong, Fran Drescher, Chad Connell.  

6. Make The Yuletide Gay (2009)

Make the Yuletide gay is one of the best gay Christmas movies of all time. To survive the holidays with his family, Olaf “Gunn” Gunnunderson, an out-and-proud gay college student, goes back into the closet.  

However, as his eccentric Midwestern-hearted parents try to fix him up with his high school sweetheart, Abby, he maintains his cool.

Furthermore, when Gunn’s boyfriend, Nathan, unexpectedly shows up on their doorstep, he must put on a farce to keep the connection hidden.  

Again, will Gunn come out before the truth is revealed, despite rising pressure from all sides? Starring Wyatt Fenner, Keith Jordan, Adamo Ruggiero, Steve Callahan, Kelly Keaton. 

7. Christmas On the Farm (2021)

When the publisher and her son arrive to visit their ‘Australian’ author, a New York socialite, she fakes her identity to publish her book and needs to rush back to her late mother’s farm.  

Starring Hugh Sheridan, Darren McMullen, Poppy Montgomery, Lynn Gilmartin.  

8. With Love (2021)

It is also one of the best gay Christmas movies. Additionally, it Follows the Diaz siblings, Lily and Jorge, as they search for love and meaning in their lives.  

During one of the most stressful times, Christmas, the Diaz siblings’ cross encounters with seemingly unrelated residents.

Starring Andre Royo, Rome Flynn, Constance Marie, Emeraude Toubia, Benito Martinez. 

9. Red Lodge (2013)

Jordan and Dave have been dating for two years, and it’s finally time for Jordan to propose. Additionally, Jordan proposes with a unique ring at a train station on his way to his Aunt Vanity’s house.  

However, Dave quickly says “yes” to marriage, much to his delight. Dave abruptly changes his mind after arriving in picturesque Red Lodge, Montana.  

Additionally, the pair does not attempt to address the snag in their relationship due to the holiday festivities. Meanwhile, Lisa, Dave’s adopted sister, arrives with her skinny boyfriend, Lace.  

Then, during the “most delightful time of the year,” Dave meets a young, twinky ski instructor who adds a kink to their already-fracturing relationship.

Starring Joseph Lim Kim, Richard Pierre-Louis, Stephnie Weir, Diane Kylander, Aric Weber. 

10. Made For You (2019)

Made for you is one of the best gay Christmas movies for the season.

Furthermore, Amanda owns and operates Made for You with Love in Seattle, where she creates personalized wedding gowns from secondhand gowns, saving her customers money on luxury gowns.  

However, the business is a passion project at which Amanda makes little money.

But that part isn’t significant because various life curves, including a failed engagement, forced her to focus on what makes her happy.

Starring Brendon Zub, Edy Ganem, Clayton James, Matreya Scarrwener, Adil Zaidi.  

11. Scrooge & Marley (2012)

A Christmas Carol is a modern-day adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic holiday novella. Additionally, Ben Scrooge, the man who despises the holidays, is visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve.  

The Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future offer him the chance to start over. Additionally, Scrooge can rediscover the joy of the holiday season and make a journey back to love by revisiting his sad life errors.  

However, the beauty of Dickens’ ageless narrative comes alive from a fresh perspective that will appeal to audiences of all persuasions, retold from a homosexual sensibility with heart, comedy, and song.
