A seven-year-old theft game that has yet to be surpassed. Also, you and your fellow goons scout banks, jewelry stores, and art galleries as a squad of four — it’s best played online with pals – planning a plan of attack.
You can go in with all guns blazing, but you’ll want to take a more stealthy, tactical approach: your first measures can include deactivating cameras and tying the hands of anyone who could jeopardize your wealth.

F.E.A.R
Even though it was touted as a sophisticated sci-fi horror game, F.E.A.R. (and its two sequels) are best played as pure shooters.
With smoke trailing bullets, windows and buildings shattering around you, and grenades sending victims flying, gunfights are cinematic spectacles.
A slow-mo option adds to the drama, and no other game has ever made me feel as much like an action movie hero (this is how we envision the Matrix video game should have turned out).
It includes some of the most memorable weapons in any shooter. With the 10mm HV Penetrator, popularly known as the spike gun, is the greatest. Steel spikes spit forth, pinning foes to the ground, walls, etc.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Of course, we had to include a game from this legendary series in our list of best FPS games and Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War wins.
The game departs from the series’ usual linear approach, allowing you to choose which missions to take on and when, as well as how much time you want to spend exploring for new information.

Far Cry 2
Far Cry video game series (and the FPS genre) continues to “develop,” it’s easier than ever to appreciate Far Cry 2, and how many of the flaws that it was panned for are now refreshing.
Again, Far Cry 2 is a hostile game that continually attempts to kill you through disease. Often uncontrollable flames, a lack of resources, and aggressive adversaries.
And a lingering bleakness that grows stronger as you learn more about the plot and world. It’s a punishing game that pushes you to think quickly in ways that few other FPS, open-world, or survival games have ever done.
Team Fortress 2
It would be an utter exaggeration to say that no one expected Team Fortress 2 to be a success. Many people expected it to be a fantastic game at the time.
Few, however, anticipated how captivating TF 2 would be and how its success would forever alter the video game industry.
When you look past the ways, TF 2 controversially ushered in the “games as a service” age. You’ll discover that it’s simply one of the most mechanically enjoyable multiplayer FPS games ever developed and a testament to how personality can transform an already fantastic game into something unique. Escape From Tarkov
It’s difficult to break free from an FPS addiction. Unlike most multiplayer shooters, escape from Tarkov is a sluggish and tense multiplayer shooter, which offers entertaining, furious action.

SWAT 4’s unique premise (compared to other tactical FPS games) serves as the foundation for some incredibly innovative missions that make seemingly mundane settings more engaging than even the most intricate fantasy realms.
SWAT 4 continuously surprises you with fresh ways to employ its outstanding tactical gameplay, from infiltrating a cult leader’s camp to diving into a serial killer’s home basement. This is one of the best FPS games.
The Operative: No one Lives Forever
True, No One Lives Forever’s almost eternal stay in licensing Hell has only heightened the voices of those who hail this 2000 FPS as one of the best made. But that doesn’t mean Monolith’s spy shooter doesn’t deserve all the accolades it receives.
While being a genuine comedy game is generally a feat in and of itself. NOLF goes above and beyond by including one of the most innovative and exciting first-person shooter campaigns ever created.
This game stands up to even the most critical design scrutiny. But its most lasting legacy is the smile it brings to your face.
Borderlands 3
This is a first-person shooter game. Borderlands 3 however, drowns players in a sea of weaponry with varied powers.
And stats (such as a gun that fires saw blades and one that you can fling like a boomerang while it continues to fire, hurting everyone nearby) are handily color-coded by rarity.
The diverse collection of heroes deviates from the typical “warrior, wizard, rogue” stereotypes, and each hero stands out on their own.
It doesn’t have the same personality as Borderlands 2. Krieg is sorely missed. Krieg, you mad barbarian poet, you.
Handsome Jack was the only villain in Borderlands 3 who made us angry. However, it remains the zenithoftheBorderlandsformula in shooting and looting, preferably in co-op.
PlayerUnknown’s Battleground
The game that started the battle royale frenzy is PUBG. Although it wasn’t the first battle royale game, it popularized the genre’s staples: randomized equipment dispersed across a large map.
A starting place from which players parachute, and an ever-shrinking play zone. Since its first release, a lot has changed, and it’s now more polished, with a variety of maps to suit all play styles.
You may go for extended periods on the largest levels without seeing another player. This pacing and the lethality of the actual bullet physics distinguish PUBG from the competition.
You can play with a group of people, but the nail-biting, stealthy alone moments are what I remember the most. This is one of the best FPS games.
GoldenEye 007
Perfect Dark may be the only game on paper, but if “X” elements like invention, historical context, and good memories are used to break ties, GoldenEye 007 deserves to be on any list of the top FPS games.
A million words have been written about what GoldenEye achieved for console FPS games. And I’m not sure I can laud it enough for how it celebrated the unique thrill of local multiplayer or the surprising strength of its single-player campaign.
Some may have dismissed GoldenEye as a poor man’s imitation of the best PC FPS games at the time, but time has been kind to the purity of the experience.
Overwatch
Blizzard has done it again, restoring our faith in a genre we were about to abandon for good. Starting with the principles of a class-based multiplayer shooter.
The company sanded down every rough edge leftover from titles like Team Fortress 2. It then replaced any personality it had lost in the process with a cast of MOBA-inspired heroes who were quickly popular.
If you’ve been on the internet since May 2016, you’ve almost certainly come across some Tracer fan art. This is one of the best FPS games.
Battlefield Bad Company 2
The multiplayer in Bad Company 2 is chaotic, innovative, memorable, and addicting. And everything else you’d expect from the Battlefield series’ famed multiplayer at its best.
Also, the brilliance of this game’s single-player campaign sets it apart from the other fantastic entries in the genre.
A dark sense of humor balances Bad Company 2’s fondness for destructible landscapes that you don’t frequently see in military shooters. It’s not surprising that some Battlefield fans are still looking for the rush they felt when they first played the game.
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare
Call of Duty 4 is the game that spans both eras, including probably the best single-player campaign in FPS history and some of the best multiplayer in FPS history.
Modern Warfare startled fans with its stunning tale and special missions (including the iconic “All Ghillied Up”). Even when we were spoilt by incredible Call of Duty campaigns.
We didn’t realize it at the time, but the multiplayer game would forever revolutionize competitive FPS games and help make this brand a multi-billion-dollar household name.
Half-Life 2
It’s been suggested that one of the reasons Valve has been hesitant to finish Half-Life 3 is that they’ve concluded that the game’s expectations have grown unrealistic and harmful.
You may make the case that Half-Life 2 was released under comparable conditions. How can you follow up on one of the best, most innovative, and well-liked PC games? How could that game ever live up to the hype?
Furthermore, Half-Life 2 didn’t just meet expectations; it surpassed them. Half-Life 2 didn’t pave the way for the genre as it leaped into the air and landed somewhere that other developers couldn’t quite see but badly desired.
Doom Eternal

Destiny 2
Destiny 2 was not expected to be as excellent as it is. And we are huge fans of Destiny. Destiny 2 advances every level, making the first game look like a collection of prototypes.
That’s not true. It develops, taking the MMOFPS concept from the first game and creating an entirely new, richer, deeper.
And broader experience around it. Destiny 2’s campaign alone is enough to warrant it, as it now exists in an entirely fleshed-out world full of people, characters, detail, and plot.
Furthermore, it’s a fantastic Halo game, much more curated, created, and built on terrific, in-the-moment narrative and set-piece design. This is one of the best FPS games.
Halo: Combat Evolved
It’s a shame that the “Combat Evolved” component of Halo’s entire name gets so little attention because it’s what set this renowned shooter apart from practically every other FPS game at the time.
The strategies you employ to fight Halo’s Covenant foes may appear routine now. Still, how this game forced you to think about your combat tactics against extremely sophisticated A.I. opponents helped change everything.
On the other hand, who can blame people for remembering Halo primarily for its multiplayer? Even the biggest online multiplayer games can’t really match the feeling of experiencing the feelings of Halo’s local multiplayer at its biggest and boldest.
Furthermore, 16-player LAN matches may seem humble now. However, the fact is that even the biggest online multiplayer video games can’t quite match the feeling of experiencing several of Halo’s local multiplayer at its biggest and boldest.
Call Of Duty: Warzone
Call of Duty: Warzone has thrown it wide open by changing every aspect of battle royale into something that feels innovative while remaining familiar — exhilarating while being approachable.
The new stuff is that you only have one chance to resurrect after you die by fighting another deadly foe in a 1v1 battle.
You can earn money by performing contracts worldwide, hunting down adversaries, looking for chests, or protecting a region.
You can then use that money to customize your loadouts in between matches to fit your playstyle. Furthermore, there are also familiar, reassuring elements, such as the ever-shrinking play zone.
A faultless “ping” system for flagging goods for your colleagues, and vehicles to carry you to faraway rings. This is one of the best FPS games.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
The greatest collection of first-person shooter games ever made. Several Halo games may have made this list on their own. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary was a watershed moment for the franchise.
Halo 3’s multiplayer was legendary. And Halo Reach is undoubtedly the closest any developer has gone to creating the perfect shooter narrative.
As a result, this compilation, which brings together the best of the series, is a must-have. Furthermore, Halo games, on their own, combine frantic multiplayer magic with fantastic story campaigns that are equally enjoyable solo as they are with a teammate in co-op.
Also, the earlier games are a piece of FPS history, with weaponry and mechanics that have been imitated by hundreds of games since, while the newer games exude class.
Counter-Strike
